Quebec's Health Minister, family physician Yves Bolduc, came to the rescue after a woman collapsed at a celebration for Quebec City's new arena.

The woman dropped to the ground beside the stage Monday and stopped breathing as dignitaries including Liberal Leader Jean Charest prepared to use their ceremonial shovels to mark the start of the construction project.

As thousands of people cheered, Dr. Bolduc, who is campaigning for re-election with Mr. Charest, and one of Mr. Charest's bodyguards rushed to the woman and immediately began CPR. After a brief period of chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, the woman could be seen sitting on the ground, conscious. She was taken away by paramedics.

It's not the first time Dr. Bolduc has been involved in a dramatic rescue. Six months ago, he came upon a car accident while driving along a Quebec highway. Dr. Bolduc unsuccessfully tried to revive one of the victims.
