Finance Minister Jim Flaherty says he has not decided whether he will run in the next federal election.

The minister – who is battling a rare and painful skin condition – has repeatedly been vague on his future plans since he released the 2014 budget earlier this month.

However, in an interview with Reuters in Australia where he attended meetings of the G20, Mr. Flaherty said he is undecided about running again.

"We'll see. I haven't decided," Mr. Flaherty said in an interview with Reuters when asked to confirm his intentions.

That comment is at odds with an answer Mr. Flaherty gave in November when he said he would run again.

‎In a separate interview with The Globe and Mail in Melbourne, Mr. Flaherty declined to say whether he would deliver another budget.

"Well, we're working toward a balanced budget. We're very close. I'd like to see the budget balanced," he said.
