Interactive: Where National Defence cuts hit hardest

According to numbers provided by the Union of National Defence Employees, 1,093 civilian staff are receiving notices of "affected" status at Canadian Forces Bases across the country. That total number includes 234 jobs at Defence Research and Establishment Canada, which conducts scientific testing in support of the military. There are also 26 language training jobs that are affected at DND but are not part of the Union of National Defence Employees.

This map illustrates where the cuts are coming from.

  • The number of cuts are represented by circles, with larger circles indicating more job losses.
  • Hover over each point to see how many cuts have occurred.
