Justice Minister Peter MacKay is leaving federal politics
Globe and Mail Update
Justice Minister Peter MacKay will announce today he’s not running for office again, sources say. From playing rugby on Parliament Hill, fighting for the puck in sledge hockey and arriving in Trenton in a brand new CC-130J Hercules tactical aircraft, these are just a few of the photo ops he provided as Defence Minister. MacKay, who turns 50 this year, will attribute his decision to his young family. He and his wife, Nazanin Afshin-Jam, are expecting a second child this fall. He has been an MP since 1997.
