Stockwell Day has a new gadget, which he debuted today in the Commons - an iPad.
It's so thin, the Minister says it fits in his "Murse" (man purse, which he carries); he's using it for efficiency and speed.
Mr. Day likes new electronic toys and is an avid e-mailer (he sends out mass e-mails to his 2700 staff inviting them to e-mail him back with thoughts and observations). It is believed that he is the first MP to have an iPad - he just got it today.
And so rare are the iPad sightings on the Hill that there was much Twitter activity just about the fact that Mr. Day has one.
The "best part," he says, is that it's saving trees by eliminating a lot of paper such as briefing notes, notes for Question Period, backgrounders for all the meetings and events he attends. It also allows him to read news as it happens, including the Globe's Ottawa Notebook, he said.
And he says he is not receiving a commission from Apple to brag about his iPad.
