Premier Kathleen Wynne speaks in Toronto on Dec. 12, 2013.PETER POWER/The Globe and Mail

Premier Kathleen Wynne says she'll allow the sale of Ontario wines at farmers' markets.

She says it's part of a $75-million plan launched in 2009 to support local wineries and help the sector grow.

The plan also includes an Ontario wine fund to purchase specialized equipment and machinery, as well as better marketing for wines locally and around the world.

Wynne says they'll create a "wine secretariat" to come up with ways to reduce red tape and help grape growers and wineries be more competitive.

The Premier has rejected calls to allow corner stores to sell beer and wine.

But she has said she would broaden their availability through speciality outlets and grocery stores.
