Conservative MP Gerald Keddy and Debra Reeves pose with a government stimulus cheque in Chester, N.S., last year.

Just finished ordering my monogrammed cheques from the Conservative Party. They are going to be hot this Christmas. Not that Liberal kind of hot that involves a visit from your friendly neighborhood policeman, but stylish just like those new Team Canada Olympic uniforms. Who knew - a well cut C is the new black?

While the Liberals today continue to mount an assault on the cardboard conspiracy - the one involving prop cheques valued at zero dollars, not real money of the kind that went missing under the last Liberal government and spawned the Gomery inquiry - Maclean's writer Martin Patriquin brings us some perspective.

Maybe all MPs can agree to a moratorium on participating in the arts-and-crafts sessions many seem to receive involving 1980s communication props. God forbid public policy debate lifts itself off the construction paper.
