As a Canadian sitting in Princeton, New Jersey, observing the American health care debate is a bit like sitting in the press box while a group of Catholic scholars riot on the convention floor over how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

Lately, the congressional progressive caucus of the Democratic Party has been threatening to vote against health care reform if the bill does not contain a so called "public option." That seems to me like the NHLPA suggesting it might boycott the 09-10 season having been informed that Gary Bettman was considering a rule change banning the use of sticks.

At any rate, here's my buddy Andrew Clark of The Guardian calmly and reasonably calling out the opponents of universal health care for what they are: a gaggle of caterwauling loonies.
