Well the big tribute party to Stéphane Dion hasn't happened yet, but is planned for the Liberal convention this spring. Of all the parties to be missed, this might be the one. Dion's dismal record as Liberal leader is well known and I am not about to piss on his grave. While it is decent and proper to thank someone for their efforts, you have to think a good portion of the Liberals attending the convention would rather have a rectal exam than go to the Stéphane soirée.

The verse from the classic Irish Rover tune Wasn't that a party? keeps playing in my head every time I think of this event. Remember those classic lines?

Could-a been the whisky, might-a been the gin. Could-a been the three or four six packs, I don't know, But won't you look at the mess I'm in? A head like a football, I think I'm going to die. But tell me, a-me oh, me oh my, Wasn't that a party?

This might have been the internal Liberal campaign song as they watched Dion pour gas all over himself during the last election trying to sell Michael Igantieff's carbon tax. For old time's sake they get to relive those memories in Vancouver in the spring. Start pouring that whisky, gin and beer right now and make sure to kick that damn football deep into the woods so it is never to be found again.
