Hudak returns to Toronto

Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak returns to the Toronto area after a three-day stint in Southern Ontario, heading to Richmond Hill for a photo-op at a Canadian Tire.

He'll spend the afternoon doing an editorial board meeting at a local newspaper, before visiting the Old Fire Hill Confectionary which "specializes in a wide variety of old-fashioned, handmade sweets and treats." Finally, he'll attend an event at candidate Shan Thayaparan's campaign office that reporters have been encouraged to attend.

All of the stops are in Liberal-held ridings.

McGuinty woos The Soo

Liberal Leader Dalton McGuinty will be in sunny but chilly Northern Ontario on Thursday, where he will continue with his job-creation narrative. He will begin the day in Thunder Bay, where he will tour the Bombardier plant that is building streetcars and light-rail vehicles for Toronto. The next stop will be the Essar Steel plant in Sault Ste Marie, which provides parts for wind turbines. Mr. McGuinty will cap his day with a rally in Sudbury.

The Liberals hold all four seats in the sprawling region. But Mr. McGuinty is perceived not to have done enough for the region. Historically, this part of the province has swung between Liberals and New Democrats. The NDP won seats in Thunder Bay and Sudbury in the federal election. The Conservatives won in The Soo.

Horwath targets the young

Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath is making stops in ridings she's already visited Thursday, starting with an announcement at Ryerson University in Toronto-Centre. No confirmation on what this will entail. But Ms. Horwath has yet to unveil an education platform – a delay that's drawn ridicule from the Liberal Party. If she does make education her focus, it will be the first time she has taken a pause from the jobs mantra that's been gripping all parties for the past week. The young theme continues with a scheduled "Interview and photo opportunity with youth reporter" in Queen's Park.

In the evening, Ms. Horwath will be at a rally with supporters in Bramalea-Gore-Malton. She's been pushing the Brampton riding in a big way, hoping candidate Jagmeet Singh, who joined her in visiting the Islamic Forum of Canada last week and introduced her at a tribute concert for Jack Layton Monday evening, can become the first New Democrat on any level to hold a seat in Peel region.
