At least two people are dead following a crash on Highway 403, just west of Toronto.

Peel Regional Paramedic Services say one person was pronounced dead at the scene. A second person died in hospital, according to police.

A third person has also been transported to hospital with critical injuries.

The collision between an SUV and tractor-trailer occurred around 3:45 p.m. Friday, closing all eastbound lanes of Highway 403 near Winston Churchill Blvd.

Two other people died Friday in collisions on highways in the Greater Toronto Area.

A 52-year-old woman from Bramalea was killed when her car collided with a garbage truck on the eastbound Highway 407, and a man riding a motorcycle was killed on the Gardiner Expressway.
