A school bus strike affecting students at the Toronto Catholic District School Board has been averted, for now.

A tentative agreement has been reached with the bus drivers' union, and a ratification vote is expected to be held later this week. The outcome of that vote will determine whether the threat of a strike remains.

Regular updates are being posted to the school board's website, www.tcdsb.org.

A strike would stop 289 buses across the city, leaving as many as 940 students scrambling for a ride to school.

Parents can also call the board's 24-hour telephone line for information (416-222-8282 ext. 2873) or contact the Transportation Department at 416-229-5313 for information.
