Drake sits at the top of the CN Tower in the cover art for his latest album, Views from the 6.

It's no secret that Drake has had an ongoing love affair with the city of Toronto. Although the artist said farewell to his local estate in 2013, he has never been able to shake off the 6ix.

On Sunday night, Drake revealed the cover art for his latest album, Views from the 6, alongside the tweet, "To the city I love and the people in it. … Thank you for everything." The album is set to be released on Friday.

Drake's relationship with Toronto has been a very public one. In 2013, he became "global ambassador" for the Toronto Raptors. A long-time fan of the team, the artist has since become synonymous with the Raptors brand, using his star power to help reinvigorate the franchise with clothing collaborations and a hand in planning the 2016 NBA All-Star Weekend.

He has been writing love notes to Toronto for years. In the 2011 album Take Care, Drake talks about Toronto Pearson International Airport in the song The Ride, singing: "I haven't been inside Terminal 1 and 3 in so long/ I'm driving right up to it now,/ Make sure you got your coat on."

In his 2013 album Nothing Was the Same, Drake references his start as Jimmy on Degrassi: The Next Generation with the song Worst Behaviour, in which Drake says: "This ain't the son you raised who used to take the Acura/ 5 a.m. then go shoot Degrassi up on Morningside."

And what about the 2015 album If You're Reading This It's too Late, when he reminisces about his days in West Toronto before moving to Forest Hill, singing, "Do you remember back to Weston Road, Scarlett Road?" in the song You & the 6.

Like it or not, the king of Toronto is here to stay. He has the tattoos to prove it.
