Flaherty and the Ford brothers head to Chicago Add to ...

Finance Minister Jim Flaherty, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford and Doug Ford are spending some quality time in Chicago.

The trio – Rob Ford was seen leaving Toronto City Hall with a green gym bag  – are expected to spend the weekend as Parliament returns Monday after a week-long break.

A spokesman for Mr. Flaherty said the minister’s trip was personal and would not comment.

Mr. Flaherty endorsed Mr. Ford’s Toronto mayoral candidacy in 2010.

Mr. Flaherty’s long-standing family friendship with the Fords dates back to Doug Ford Sr., father of Rob and Doug, and his stint as a provincial Tory MPP under Mike Harris.
