Here is a list of recent police deaths in Canada.

Sergeant Ryan Russell, 35, was struck and killed by a stolen snowplow while attempting to arrest its driver at the intersection of Avenue Road and Davenport Road on Jan 12, 2011.

Constable Chelsey Robinson, 25, was killed in an automobile accident while looking for a drunk driver in Edmonton, Alberta on June 21, 2010

Constable Sébastien Coghlan-Goyette, 25, was killed in an automobile accident on Nov. 14, 2010 while responding to an emergency call.

Constable Éric Lavoie, 32, died on Sept 8, 2008 of injuries sustained in 2005 when he was involved in an automobile accident while responding to an emergency call.

After responding to a Domestic dispute in 2001, Constable John David Goyer suffered injuries which led to him developing ALS. He died from the disease five years later on April 19, 2006.

Constable Vu Pham, 37, was shot and killed on March 8, 2010 after pulling over a pickup truck northwest of London, Ont.

Constable Artem Ochakovsky, 36, was killed in a car crash in Brampton, Ont. on March 1, 2010 while on general patrol.

Constable Eric Czapnik, 51, was stabbed to death while sitting in his police cruiser on Dec. 29, 2009.

Constable Melanie Roy, 21, was killed on Sept. 7, 2009, when she lost control of her vehicle and struck a bridge support while responding to an emergency call.

Constable Alan Hack, 31, died on July 6, 2009 after an asphalt truck collided with a police cruiser in southwestern Ontario.

Constable Douglas Scott, 20, RCMP, was killed on Nov. 5, 2007 after responding to a call just before 11 p.m. EST to investigate a report of an impaired driver in the hamlet of Kimmirut - a dry town where alcohol is banned.

Constable Christopher Worden, RCMP, was shot in Hay River, N.W.T., responding to a noise complaint, early Sat. Oct. 6, 2007.

Constable Daniel Tessier, Laval, Que., police service. Shot to death during an early morning drug raid on March 2, 2007 at a house south of Montreal.

Constables Marc Bourdages, 26, and Robin Cameron, 29, RCMP. Shot and killed while pursuing a suspect in a vehicle after a domestic dispute in Spiritwood, Sask., July 7, 2006.

Constable Donald Doucet, 41, Sault Ste. Marie police service. Killed on duty after an impaired driver struck his vehicle, May 14, 2006.

Constable John Atkinson, 37, Windsor, Ont., police service. Shot during a shootout outside a convenience store, May 5, 2006.

Constable John Goyer, 40, Abbotsford, B.C., police service. Died of injuries after he was assaulted during a domestic dispute, April 19, 2006.

Constable Valerie Gignac, 25, Laval police service. Shot while responding to a noise complaint in an apartment, Dec. 14, 2005.

Constable Andrew Potts, 29, Ontario Provincial Police. Killed on his way to a domestic call after his vehicle struck a moose, near Bala, Ont., July 20, 2005.

Constable Jose Agostinho, 45, RCMP. Struck by a delivery truck while investigating an accident on a highway 50 kilometres south of Edmonton, July 4, 2005.

Constable Joseph Minguy, 46, RCMP. Drowned on duty while testing a watercraft, June 3, 2005.

RCMP Constables Brock Myrol, 29, Peter Christopher Schiemann, 25, Anthony Gordon, 28, Leo Nicholas Johnston, 32. Ambushed and gunned down during an investigation on a farm in Mayerthorpe, Alta., March 3, 2005.

Constable Tyler Boutilier, 32, OPP. Died in vehicle collision on a highway near Kingston, Ont., while en route to a police call, May 23, 2004.

Constable Chris Garrett, 39, Cobourg, Ont., police service. Slashed in the neck with a hunting knife after responding to a 911 call about a robbery, May 15, 2004.

Corporal James Galloway, 53, RCMP. Killed during an armed standoff in Spruce Grove, near Edmonton, Feb. 28, 2004.
