Mayor Ford takes vacation, leaving town Monday

Mayor Rob Ford is taking some "personal time" for vacation this holiday season.

The mayor's press secretary confirmed that Mr. Ford would be leaving town Monday for holiday. He would not say where the mayor is headed or when he'll be back.

Both city council and executive committee – the two committees on which the mayor sits – have wrapped up their official business for the year.

The city's budget hearings are continuing, with a vote expected in January.

Councillor Doug Ford, the mayor's brother, would not confirm that the mayor is away on vacation, but he said he is urging his brother to take some time away. "The whole city isn't going to collapse if he goes away for a week," the councillor said.
