Toronto mayor Rob Ford has had another set back on the scales, putting on a pound over the past two weeks in his battle to lose weight.
“It’s a challenge,” Mr. Ford told reporters, who showed up in droves Monday morning, drawn by two animal rights protestors wearing “lettuce” bikinis.
Mr. Ford, who refused to speak to the “lettuce ladies,” said getting out for regular exercise is the biggest hurdle for him.
“Trying to get out at night running, it’s a challenge, “ he said.
The two activists from PETA gave the mayor’s press secretary a basket of vegan treats after the mayor ignored them.
The mayor also refused to answer reporters’ questions on recent comments that he does not spend enough time at city hall.
He did express concern about two recent shootings and the stabbing of a police officer over the weekend.
His brother, councillor Doug Ford, who stopped eating red meat after working in a meat plant, did chat with the protestors.
He lost one pound over the week, weighing in at 249.Report Typo/Error
