Toronto homicide officers are investigating the death of a girl who was found in distress at a hotel on Monday.
Police found the child at a Howard Johnson hotel in Scarborough near Highway 401 and Warden Avenue. The girl's age has not yet been disclosed.
Officers were initially called to a nearby home around 4 p.m.
"The investigation led them ultimately to the Howard Johnson hotel," said Constable Sarah Diamond of Toronto Police. "Officers arriving on scene located a child in obvious distress."
Paramedics, who were called to the hotel about 7 p.m., took the girl to hospital, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
A man and a boy were also taken to hospital, police said, without providing information on their ages or relationship. Their injuries were deemed serious but not life-threatening, said Kim McKinnon, a spokeswoman for Toronto Emergency Medical Services.
A post-mortem examination was expected to be performed on Tuesday.
