Police are searching for a 24-year-old man who escaped custody by walking out of a Toronto courtroom on Thursday.

Jacob Allen Mann faces three charges related to a forcible confinement investigation.

Mr. Mann "misrepresented himself" and left the College Park courthouse where he was being held, Toronto police say.

The switch took place while Mr. Mann and another prisoner were in the prisoner's box, according a report in the Toronto Star. The other prisoner did not react when his name was called, and Mr. Mann stood up and walked out of the courtroom instead.

Police say he is considered dangerous and should not be approached.
