Toronto The Proust treatment: 10 questions (and five videos) with Shad

Sure, the word-play maestro Shad was recently named the host of the CBC Radio One national arts show Q, but the new gig doesn’t need to interrupt his hip hop flow. In advance of his upcoming concert at Massey Hall, he took time out to respond to our questionnaire.

What is your idea of perfect happiness? Gratitude

What is your greatest fear? Not doing with what I've been given.

What’s the deal with Kanye West? Best musician of the last 10 years. Maybe ever. And he's not a musician.

Who are your heroes? Leo Tolstoy and John Stockton.

What is the trait you most deplore in others? Liking Duke basketball.

What is your most treasured possession? My phone. Cuz useful.

What’s the deal with Justin Bieber? Poor kid from Stratford. I stays reppin’.
