If Lilly Frost had it her way, we'd honour Frank Sinatra everyday. With a live broadcast this evening on Zoomer Radio (AM 740; 7 to 10 p.m.), the Toronto chanteuse and guests celebrate today's 100th birthday of the smooth Hoboken, N.J., crooner, pop culture icon and Rat Pack badass. We asked Ms. Frost to name her three favourite Sinatra-sung songs.

I’ve Got You Under My Skin

Frank swings in a playful way and changes words to suit his edgier personality, i.e.: “I know damn well.” His movements are precise, no sound or move wasted. He knows his place in the spaces between the big-band orchestra and holds his ground graciously without being over the top.

Moonlight In Vermont

The melody is soooo haunting. He loves this song, and it’s clear why. The imagery is so vivid depicting a snowy, romantic, moonlit night in Vermont. You feel like you are there with him.

My Way

Frank made the song famous. With his direct approach, he owns it, alluring men and women alike to the value of self-confidence and respect. It makes us want to move like him through our lives, with bravado and style. With a powerful nonchalance he states it almost like a president commanding respect.
