A woman in the city's east end had quite a scare early Tuesday when she discovered a snake wriggling around her bathroom.

The woman doesn't own any snakes and police believe it may have been in the apartment building's drainage system and came up in her bathroom.

The woman found the reptile in her apartment at about 3 a.m. (near Victoria Park and Ellesmere Road) and quickly called 911.

Police retrieved the snake and it's now in the care of Toronto Animal Services.

It's not yet known what type of the snake it is.
