British Airways will begin service with the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner on its Toronto-to-London route starting Sept. 1, the airline announced Thursday.
In a news release marking the delivery of the UK carrier's first 787, the airline said the new aircraft will operate from Heathrow to Toronto starting Sept. 1 and from Heathrow to Newark, New Jersey starting Oct. 1.
Tickets are being sold for £787.
The Dreamliner has been touted as a next-generation aircraft that offers longer range in a smaller size. Its design uses new lightweight composite materials and aerodynamic engineering to shave as much as 20 per cent off fuel consumption. But the launch was plagued with a series of safety problems surrounding batteries.
British Airways has configured its 787 to hold 214 passengers, with 35 seats in a premium Club World section, the airline said.
