Toronto Public Health has shut down two more food vendors at the Canadian National Exhibition for food safety infractions.

Bourbon Street Grill and Bao 360 Shanghai Express were both closed down for food safety infractions and for being in breach of the CNE contract, according to a release from the CNE, and will remain closed for the duration of the fair.

The news follows an Toronto Public Health investigation last week that shut down a different vendor, EPIC Burgers and Waffles, after hundreds of fair-goers reported getting sick.

"We continue to be vigilant with our multi-tiered approach to food safety, which includes working closely with Toronto Public Health and our own food safety consultants," David Bednar, General Manager of the CNE, said in the release.

"Our approach to this issue, as with other general issues of safety, leaves no room for compromise."

Asked about the recent illnesses and vendors closing, Mayor Rob Ford said he hadn't heard the latest updates but said the rich food can sometimes lead to illness in itself.

"Everyone overeats at the Ex. You don't feel well just because you overindulge but I've never had a problem," he said, adding public health has been diligent so far.

"I think they dealt with the cronut burger as best they could. Like I said, I thought it was safer than ever. We had more health inspectors in there than ever before."On Tuesday, EPIC Burgers and Waffles reopened after Toronto Public Health determined it was the maple bacon jam that topped their cronut burger, not the burger itself, that was contaminated with Staphylococcus aureus: the bacterial toxin that caused the outbreak. They announced they would no longer be serving the cronut burger: a cheeseburger sandwiched between two croissant-doughnut hybrids.

The health authority said it has received 223 complaints from people who felt sick after eating at the CNE. Public health officials interviewed 154 of those people and found 79 cases of food poisoning, including one person who was hospitalized overnight. Symptoms of Staphylococcus aureus food poisoning include nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramping and can last for up to three days.The jam and the cronuts were made by Le Dolci bakery in Toronto's west end. The bakery is currently closed for a public health investigation.
