Woman pinned under TTC streetcar taken to hospital

An elderly woman was taken to hospital Thursday afternoon after she was pinned under a TTC streetcar on Spadina Avenue near Queen Street West.

Police and firefighters propped up the front of the southbound streetcar using wooden blocks and an inflatable rubber cushion. The woman was lifted onto a stretcher and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Traffic was at a standstill on Spadina for several blocks and began moving again shortly before 4 p.m.
