Toronto Police attended two assemblies at Forest Hill Secondary School in Toronto in 2009 to make an appeal to the student body for any information they may have regarding the disappearance of Mariam Makhniashvili, 17.Peter Power / The Globe and Mail

Police they they're satisfied a woman caught on surveillance video isn't missing Toronto teen Mariam Makhniashvili.

Ms. Makhniashvili vanished in September 2009 when she was 17, and the only clue ever found was her backpack.

Police began poring over security camera video this week following reports she'd been sighted in east-end Toronto.

But Const. Wendy Drummond says investigators are satisfied the person isn't Ms. Makhniashvili.

Const. Drummond says police are constantly getting tips in the case and encourage the public to report any possible sightings.
