Police have laid charges against 22 Toronto-area men following a sting operation that targeted prostitution of underage girls.

York Regional Police allege the suspects were trying to solicit sexual services from girls under 18 years old.

They say they laid more than 65 charges, most relating to prostitution.

York Regional Police say the blitz was part of a larger, ongoing operation called Project Raphael.

They say the majority of girls or women committing sexual acts for money are doing so against their will and are often victims of crime through violence.
