Papaza, a centre for disabled children run by Canadian Marika MacRae, provided special-education programs for those with mental disabilities, a school for the deaf, volunteer surgeons to repair club feet, physiotherapy, nutrition programs and outreach to help parents accept and care for their disabled children. None of the children in the programs were harmed in the quake, but Pazapa's facilities were condemned, and the programs have been stopped until the organization can rebuild.
