A Quebec man remains behind bars after authorities in Arizona allegedly found 50 kilograms of cocaine in his car.

Girolamo Del Balso faces a number of felony charges including possession of narcotics for sale and transporting narcotics for sale.

Local police gave details of the Feb. 17 arrest on their Facebook page.

An Arizona State trooper stopped Del Balso for a traffic violation on an interstate and requested assistance from a Kingman Police Department K9 unit.

A police dog named Amigo sniffed out 50 kilograms of cocaine authorities say was destined for Canada. They say the drugs had a street value of $3.7 million.

Police downgraded the amount seized after previously saying it was 62 kilograms.

Del Balso, who is from Laval, has alleged ties to the Mafia in Montreal.

According to the Mohave County Jail's website where Del Balso was booked, he is still behind bars today.
