Winning images from the 59th World Press Photo Contest have been announced. The winning image is a moonlit black-and-white photo illustrating the struggle faced by migrating Syrians. Judges described it as haunting, nuanced and powerful. Canadian photographer Kevin Frayer also won two awards. Truly a world-wide competition, winners were selected from 82,951 photos made by 5,775 photographers from 128 different countries.
