Editor’s note: A Canadian Press article on which Thursday, Dec. 14's editorial cartoon was based on about the federal New Democratic Party’s by-election campaign in the riding of Scarborough-Agincourt erroneously described a Nov. 26 event with NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh as the campaign kickoff for by-election candidate Brian Chang, even though it took place in a neighbouring riding, Scarborough North. In media reports and on social media, Mr. Chang – who was present at the event with Mr. Singh – described it at the time as a campaign event in the riding. Mr. Singh and party officials, however, say the event had been planned and scheduled well before the by-election was called Nov. 5, and that it was never meant as Mr. Chang’s campaign kickoff.
