Done Deal, 65 Pine Crest Rd., Toronto

TAXES $5,167 (2012)

LISTING AGENT Theodore Babiak, Royal LePage Real Estate Services Ltd.

The Action: On a winding street north of High Park, this detached brick house sold quickly in a bidding war among four buyers.

What They Got: For 50 years, the same family resided in this roughly 90-year-old residence, which has 2,120 square feet of living space spread across three levels and an 800-square-foot basement with a separate side entrance and one of three bathrooms.

Traditional elements include stained glass windows in the foyer and fireside living room, as well as hardwood floors throughout, including all four bedrooms, one of which has a gas fireplace.

To accommodate family members with different cooking habits, there is a kitchen by the main dining room with a nine-foot beamed ceiling and an open breakfast area with a walkout to a rear covered porch, as well as kitchens on the second and third floors.

Within the past four years, the breaker box, heating, cooling and plumbing systems were replaced.

Fencing encloses the 25-by-143-foot lot with a stone patio, trees, grass-filled yard and parking.

The Agent's Take: "It's on a crescent, which is a short street that runs about a block north of Bloor, so it's tucked away and doesn't get a lot of traffic," says agent Theodore Babiak. "It's tree-lined and had a nice variety of homes."

Buyers also liked the ability to add property value with some updates. "It was well maintained and it hadn't been beat up by being rented out," adds Mr. Babiak. "It had a nice garden and backyard, and it had lane access for two cars."
