Prior to the recent grand opening of a new luxury residence in downtown Aurora, the Kaitlin Group was well aware if its imminent popularity given the interest buyers showed once preview sales began last year.

“Sixty per cent of the building was sold in three days basically, so that demonstrated a huge demand for these units,” says vice-president, Gary Daniell. “There’s really no other condo like it in the area.”

Only 74 units will be constructed in the six-storey development, which was dubbed Centro to underscore the importance of its location at Yonge and Centre streets, just a block north of Wellington Street.

“We have a Yonge Street address, so you can walk to the GO train [station]and walk to all the coffee shops, various shops and boutiques on Yonge Street,” says Mr. Daniell. “So our location is very important to the site.”

Locals in particular gravitate to the project that is surrounded by community centres, parks, walking trails and golf courses. Those seeking big city amenities can also reach Toronto is less than a 30 minute via Highway 404 nearby or commute to Union Station in 40 minutes by train.

Or without exiting the modern, classic pre-cast, stone and glass building, residents will have easy access to retail and dining ventures at street level, a private lobby with concierge, a pet mudroom, second floor party room, boardroom and fully-equipped gym.

“We’re a very upscale, boutique-style condominium with executive concierge,” adds Mr. Daniell.

On the floors above, units will have one or two-bedroom plans with or without dens, and large outdoor space up to 200 square feet.

“Being on Yonge Street, we wanted to make sure the building is stepped back from Yonge, so architecturally, it looks spectacular,” Mr. Daniell explains. “We also felt that it was important today to enjoy the outdoors and have outdoor space, and it’s very unique to have these great outdoors on a Yonge Street location.”

Another rarity in conventional buildings will be ten-foot ceilings and eight-foot doors on the second, third and sixth floors, and nine-foot ceilings and seven-foot doors on remaining levels.

“All the units have massive windows and high ceilings, which make these units very open and spacious feeling,” says Mr. Daniell. “The finishes are as high-end as you can go.”

Bryon Patton and Associates steered the styling direction, selecting a variety of lavish materials such as hardwood flooring, marble bathroom tiles and frameless glass shower stalls, as well as granite and quartz kitchen counters and under-cabinet lighting and valances.

To ensure a healthy and cost-effective environment, green features will range from energy-efficient windows, Energy Star appliances and individually metered utilities in each suite to a bike storage area and tri-sorter chute system for waste, recycling and organics in the building.

Suites larger than 885-square-feet will get underground rather than surface parking, and monthly fees will be 40 cents per square foot.

Occupancy is slated for December 2013.
