LISTING AGENT Heather Lemieux, Royal LePage Connect Realty
The Action: In the Port Union community along Lake Ontario, this classic detached residence logged over 30 visitors with private showings midweek and numerous realtors at an agents-only open house.
What They Got: This two-storey house is fairly secluded on a 50-by-110-foot lot fronting onto a winding street and backing onto an in-ground pool surrounded by perennial gardens and mature trees.
Over time, this 1970s residence was updated and expanded with a new roof, windows and family room addition with a wood-burning fireplace, slate floors and sliding doors to a solarium and fenced-in pool.
Original sections of the home include a main-floor den, combined living and dining area and an eat-in kitchen, along with four bedrooms upstairs and a lower-level recreation room.
Conveniences include two bathrooms, a central vacuum system and a double garage.
The Agent's Take: "A lot of what sold this was the neighbourhood," says agent Heather Lemieux.
"It's the only area in the whole city surrounded on three sides by water and has no high-rises. The GO Train station, the beach and Rouge Park … is very close by, and so is the new aquatics centre for the Pan Am Games."
Buyers also liked the extra space available for recreation. "[Previous owners] put an addition on the back and there was also a swimming pool," Ms. Lemieux. said. "[The solarium] was a three-seasons one and it was nice you could sit there and look out at the pool."
