The Action: Townhouses are a common product around Yorkville, but few retain details like this heritage-designated rowhome near Ramsden Park. More than 30 interested parties patrolled the grounds and a deal worked out within two weeks.

What They Got: A dozen brick rowhomes built circa 1890s were restored by architect Joan Burt in 1965. This unit on a 16-by-80-foot lot has its original three-level plan with vintage elements, such as a polished brass stair railings that was originally an Eaton store door handle.

The main floor has a rear guest room and a front living room with 9 1/2-foot ceilings and a steel framed glass door to a wrought iron balcony.

The kitchen is located on the lower level with nine-foot ceilings, ceramic floors and walls, African limestone counters and a walkout to the private backyard, which is also accessible via double doors in a formal dining room with parquet floors.

The second floor accommodates a master suite with wood-burning steel fireplace, exposed brick wall, quilted cotton walls, a rooftop patio and one of three bathrooms.

Two-car parking is found off a laneway.

The Agent's Take: "It's a historic, heritage townhouse in a very convenient and desirable location," agent Boris Kholodov said. "The whole row was redone by architect Joan Burt, who put in English steel doors in all the units and they still remain in this property."

The potential to add value to this place was another asset. "Most buyers were looking to do some work to this property," Mr. Kholodov said.

"The original layout has the kitchen on the lower garden level and this was the case in this property, but some other properties in the row now have kitchens on the main level."
