The Action: In Lytton Park, a limited number of large homes such as this detached, four-bedroom residence were available in May, so at least 60 groups roamed through the open house. After a week passed, it sold to the better of two offers.

What They Got: This 2,327-square-foot structure retains traditional traits from the 1930s, such as its brick-and-stone façade, crown mouldings and a wood-burning fireplace in the living room and wainscotting and stained-glass windows in the dining room.

The family room and eat-in kitchen has a more modern aesthetic with granite and limestone finishes, sky-lit island and stainless-steel appliances, as well as double doors to a deck, private south-facing gardens and mature trees bordering the 50-by-134-foot lot.

Behind the garage is access to the driveway and staircase to a lower-level recreation room and upper bedrooms, including one with a fireplace and one of three bathrooms.

The Agent's Take: "It's in a very good school area – Allenby is one of the better schools in Toronto," says agent Wanda Lalonde. "It's a good walk to Yonge Street for shopping and it's very close to transportation."

The physical attributes of the home were another asset. "It was a very traditional Tudor, very pretty with great street presence and very lovely landscaping in the front," Ms. Lalonde adds.

"Very often these houses will have four bedrooms and one bathroom, but this had two bathrooms on the second floor, and they had extended the family room from the original den, so it was very nice and they had a huge kitchen."
