LISTING AGENT Bill Thom, Re/Max Realtron Realty Inc.

The Action: Just south of A.Y. Jackson Secondary School in North York is a winding road lined with residences similar to this two-storey house set on a 50-by-120-foot lot. Ten groups of house hunters were escorted through the home and three returned with offers, the best one well over $800,000.

What They Got: Aside from a roof, this detached house is fairly original with hardwood floors exposed in the four bedrooms upstairs, but hidden by broadloom in the living and dining areas.

Secondary infrastructure includes two bathrooms and an eat-in kitchen, which has sliding patio doors, plus a panelled recreation room with laminate floors in the basement.

The Agent's Take: "It belongs to the A.Y. Jackson school [district], in fact it backs onto the track and field and there's a gate in the backyard to the school," agent Bill Thom says. "It sold for $820,000, which is pretty much the entry point for that area for a detached, two-storey, double-car garage."

Buyers also liked the house's solid structure. "It's a neatly maintained home, nothing fancy," Mr. Thom says. "It didn't have a family room, which is usually at the back, so it makes the living room a usable space.
