In a week of heavy snowfall this February, about three dozen house hunters over two days made the trek to see this century-old Victorian in person. Another 8,000 took the online tour and by its fourth day on the market a solid offer came in.
“We timed it perfectly because as it worked out, we were the only house in Cabbagetown on the market, so that was an advantage for us,” agent Carol Lome said.
“Because of the activity, one pre-emptive offer created others, and we sold.”
What they got
This semi-detached house on a 16-by-85-foot lot has 1,570 square feet of interior living space, as well as a fenced-in backyard and parking off a laneway.
Some years ago the walls between the living and dining rooms were removed. Both have oak hardwood floors under 9½-foot ceilings. The eat-in kitchen was also opened up to a family room with a skylight and patio doors.
The largest of three bedrooms is a loft-like space on the third floor.
The agent’s take
“This was a Victorian home that had been updated in the last 20 years, but it was ready for some parts to be rejuvenated,” Ms. Lome said.
“It had a family room, an unfinished basement and two good bedrooms on the second [floor], and lots of potential on the third floor to do a master suite with an ensuite.”
