The Action: This detached, two-storey house lacks a finished basement and parking on the 20-by-105-foot corner lot. But those drawbacks were largely overlooked as seven buyers produced strong offers early October.

"It's a very short little strip, so we were happy with the activity," agent Ken Mazurek said. "It was very popular with first-time buyers and couples upsizing from a condo."

What They Got: In the past few years, the integrity of this more-than-century-old residence was preserved with updated windows, roofing and operating systems and refreshed with new hardwood floors in all three bedrooms, granite kitchen counters, stainless-steel appliances and sliding doors to the deck and perennial gardens.

The living and dining areas are open-concept, but features a classic gas fireplace and original hardwood floors.

The Agent's Take: "There are only about 11 houses on Hassard, all on the east side. The west side has backyards and garages from the homes on Woodville and O'Connor, which helps alleviate any issues with parking," Mr. Mazurek said.

"It also allows more light and privacy, not to mention very little traffic."

Buyers were also impressed this home has the feel of an old one with essentials of a new one. "It's a lovely, sweet house with a lot of energy and warmth to it," Mr. Mazurek said.

"It had a big, open concept main floor with 11-foot ceilings and a walkout to a large and private backyard."
