Fertilizer giant Agrium Inc. AGU-T says it will walk away from its $4.3-billion (U.S.) offer for CF Industries Holdings Inc. CF-N (CF-N) if a "compelling majority" of shareholders doesn't tender to the bid by June 22. Agrium's hostile pursuit of CF has been staunchly rebuffed by the Deerfield, Ill.-based fertilizer producer and distributor, despite two increases to the bid. The latest offer of $40 in cash and one Agrium share "is Agrium's best and final price absent engagement by CF and demonstration of additional value," the company said. AGU-T (TSX) fell $2.88 to $50.05.
