If you can make a killer PB and J, Buzzfeed wants you.
In a job ad placed Buzzfeed placed on its site, the quirky news and entertainment media company says it is looking for a support specialist to work in its New York offices. While the job ad lists a number of expected responsibilities and requirements the job applicant must be able to handle, the company doesn't want your typical résumé. Instead this is what the ad says:
"To Apply: Instead of a cover letter, please send us instructions on how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Text, images, video... the format for your PB&J tutorial is up to you, as long following your instructions results in a really delicious sandwich."
"Cover letters are often boring and this seemed like a more fun, illuminating way to get a sense of how a job applicant communicates," Alice DuBois, who is BuzzFeed's product lead for editorial tools, told Poynter.org.
And if you need any help, Buzzfeed has a list of 55 peanut butter and jelly recipes on its site from its celebration of National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day last April 2.
If that job doesn't catch your attention, Buzzfeed is also looking for an associate animals editor. The requirements for that job are to "love the internet, cute animals, and especially cats."
