The United States has always been the most important export market for Canadian business, but increasingly executives recognize that in a shrinking world of commerce they have to look further afield. The expanding Chinese market is the first choice for many companies looking overseas, but India and Latin America are also seen as key new markets. Unfortunately, none of these are as open to investment and exports as our friends south of the border, business leaders say.
