Backyards come at a premium in Canada's two hottest housing markets. The price gap between single-family homes and condos in Greater Toronto now stands at a record $322,400. "If it's any consolation for Torontonians pining for a backyard, note that Vancouverites were dealing with a similar wide spread back in 2006 … and now face a gap that is more than twice as large at a record $756,200," said Sal Guatieri, senior economist at BMO Nesbitt Burns, in a research note.
