The bad news keeps mounting in Calgary as it suffers from the oil shock. The city's unemployment rate hit 7.7 per cent in January, up from 7 per cent the previous month, according to Statistics Canada. Calgary's jobless rate, which has jumped 3.1 percentage points in a year, "now tops that seen at the height of the financial crisis," BMO economist Robert Kavcic said in a research note.
