Soon-to-be former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney is not one to boast too much about his abilities or accomplishments, but that didn't stop some big names in global finance and international media from lavishing praise on him as he announced Monday that he'd be heading to the Bank of England next year.

"I've served to the best of my abilities and I'm humbled by the support that I've received both from my colleagues at the bank and from Canadians across this great country," Mr. Carney said in a prepared statement.
