Hudson's Bay announced plans to open its first Saks Fifth Avenue location in Quebec.

The company says the new multi-level store will be located in the Hudson's Bay building in downtown Montreal.

It's expected to be the largest Saks Fifth Avenue store in Canada and open in the fall of 2018.

The company says it will be similar in approach to its location at the Eaton Centre mall in Toronto where Saks and Hudson's Bay share the same building.

The downtown Montreal Hudson's Bay store will remain open throughout the multi-million dollar renovation process.

Saks Fifth Avenue currently has two full-line stores in Toronto and has announced plans for a store in Calgary.

"In today's digital world, our store experience is paramount in our mission to entertain and delight our customers," Liz Rodbell, president of Hudson's Bay and Lord & Taylor, said in a release.

"This renovation will keep Hudson's Bay central to our customers' shopping experience for years to come."
