November 8, 1984--Dr. Henry Morgentaler, right, gets a kiss from supporter Selma Edelstone in Toronto after he and his associates were acquitted. Henry Morgentaler and two associates made Ontario legal history on November 8, 1984 when a Supreme Court of Ontario jury acquitted them of breaking an abortion law. The jubilant Dr. Morgentaler immediately joined supporters outside the courthouse, howling in delight and delivering an off-key rendition of a modified victory song, "We have overcome."Jeff Wasserman
