Whether Taylor Swift is singing or chastising, Apple Inc. is listening. Less than 24 hours after the recording artist criticized Apple over its refusal to pay artists during free trials of its Apple Music service, the tech giant has reversed its policy. "When I woke up this morning and saw what Taylor had written, it really solidified that we needed a change," Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice-president for Internet and software, told Billboard. Apple's change of tune is being hailed as a big win for indie musicians. For her part, Ms. Swift is the all-time top seller of digital singles, according to data from the Recording Industry Association of America.
