For financial markets, Hurricane Sandy couldn’t come at a worse time.

It’s not so much the physical damage the massive storm is likely to wreak on the eastern seaboard, or the economic implications of the cleanup; these things, both literally and figuratively, have a way of blowing over in fairly short order, their market impact so routinely overstated as to be cliché.
