The Canadian online conference known as mesh begins in Toronto on Wednesday with the aim of providing the industry's "key trends, issues, companies and tools."

Through a series of keynotes, panels and workshops, participants will hear and discuss a wide range of topics related to the web and how it affects the way we work and play.

The Globe is sending a team of reporters and editors to live blog at mesh in an effort to bring you all the news and views of the two-day event. "Starting a business is never easy," the conference organizers wrote on the mesh web site. "But online tools can make it easier than ever, letting startups take advantage of everything from cloud computing and online storage to web-based services that can give small companies an edge over their larger competitors."
